South Central Region Safe Kids Coalitions

                                  The Problem

Unintentional injury is the number one killer of children ages 14 and under.

                           The Solution

SAFE KIDS Coalitions are members of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign. There are over 300 SAFE KIDS Coalitions in the country. Their long-term goals include:

  • Provide a unified injury prevention message throughout South Central Washington.
  • Raise awareness among parents and caregivers that unintentional injuries are the leading health threat facing children today.
  • Focus attention on and design injury prevention strategies for children of low-income families. Sadly, statistics show low-income children are at the highest risk for potential injury.
  • Make childhood injury a public policy priority for federal, state, and, local policy makers. This will increase monetary funding and other resources allocated to childhood injury prevention.
